ALLEPPEY, a small but beautiful town was built in 1762, by RAJA KESAVADASA, the then Divan of Travancore State. The many canals crossing each other inside the town built to facilitate the transportation of goods gained this town the name 'VENICE OF THE EAST'. It is here the world famous NEHRU TROPHY SNAKE BOAT RACE is being conducted on the second Saturday of August, every year in the PUNNAMADA LAKE.  This is the one and only type of it's kind in the world. The only event in which more than 100 people row one boat with 5 Helmsmen and 11 Cheer Leaders, together making the total no of participants in a single boat to 116. The length of the Boat is 150 ft. and  width 2.5 ft.

Hardly 2 Km. towards east from this town lies the most beautiful village  KUTTANADU, the rice bowl of Kerala, surrounded by green paddy fields and narrow canals. This is the only place on this planet where cultivation is done 2.5 meters below sea level. After 20 minutes journey by boat through narrow canals surrounding the green paddy fields takes you to the location of the riverside Home stay resort. 10 minutes walk from this home will take you to the birth place of St.KURIAKOSE ELIYAS where the blessed house is still kept with all it's sanctity and divinity as it was 120 years back. The world famous Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, where hundreds of migrant birds do their nesting from Sept. - March, is 30 minutes boat journey from here through the biggest fresh water lake in India "THE VEMBANAD BACK WATER LAKE".

This is an independent  room, with all facilities  where you will feel a home away from home.

The most delicious South Indian dishes are served prepared with garden picked vegetables, fresh water fish from nearby river Pampa, like Karimeen, Prawns and Shrimps etc..

Swimming, Country Boat riding / rowing through narrow canals (hardly 3 to 4 mtrs wide), Fishing, Sight seeing and country walking etc..

For those visitors during the month of July & August, arrangements may be made to take part in the Snake Boat rowing
